The Shell Rotella RTO-59 diesel oil filter is guaranteed to meet fit, form, and function for those applications for which it is cataloged. It provides the capacity needed for diesel engines to help reduce engine wear by capturing dirt and contaminants, and meets flow rate requirements for specific engine manufacturer's requirements. Shell Rotella Oil Filters follow the rigid requirements of light-duty diesel engines with regard to burst strength, media area, valve integrity, and capacity (*as defined by the manufacturer's engine type). The RTO-59 Oil Filter is designed for use on the following models: 2006 AM General; 2001-19 Chevrolet; 2001-19 GMC; 2006 Hummer.

Good filter

You may want to check on filters that are bigger for diesel engines but this is a tried and true filter for those that change their oil every 5,000 miles religiously.

Does oil filter things just fine

Seems like a good enough filter for the money. Haven't cut it open or anything, but I typically go no more than 4k miles on an oil change. Not top of the line, but not bottom of the barrel, either.
