It features a standard left-hinge door (opening from right to left) and the door is not reversible, which is typical for this type of Sharp appliances. - A: Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to assist you. The Sharp R1214TY is designed for 12-inch to 13-inch deep cabinets, but it can be installed under a 15-inch deep cabinet. While it will not align perfectly flush with the front of a 15-inch cabinet, it is designed to mount securely to the bottom of it, potentially requiring longer screws for the front mounting points. - A: The Sharp R1210TY over the counter microwave weighs ~55 lbs and is 23.9" x 14.1" x 15.5". It comes with a bracket to hang over the counter under a shorter upper cabinet. It has no feet to sit on a shelf or counter, and has an overhead light. It should not be put on a shelf. It does not have a vent, so cannot be used over stove. If looking for a built-in shelf microwave, don't pay the premium for this unit and get a standard microwave.3 months ago

Love this microwave

We remodeled our kitchen in 2006 and have had to replace several of the appliances more than once but not this microwave. The button on the door broke but the other than that it has been working great for 20 years and because of that we are buying it again.

We had this same model Sharp microwave for 16 years, used every day when we were home. Late in 2025 we started to have some problems, the door not always latching properly and some inside paint/coating wearing off. It still worked but slamming the door a few times to get it going was not good. We decided to buy ourselves a Christmas present, a new microwave. When looking at over the counter microwaves it was a surprise that Sharp that after 16+ years they still manufactured the same model we had. Knowing the average lifetime of a microwave is 7 - 10 years we knew that was the model we wanted. It was a plus that installation was not a problem. Unplugged the old microwave, removed two screws, tilted it and lifted it out. The new bracket was identical to the old one so we didn't have to use it. Reversed the steps and the new microwave was installed ready to use in less than 5 minutes. m We hope it will last as long as the old one.

We purchased this OTC microwave 18 years ago and it is still working great. It’s easy to use and has everything you need for everyday use. We were thrilled to find out that SHARP still makes this microwave. We recently purchased this same model so when our current microwave does go it will fit in the same space with the same great quality.
