Selarid ( Selamectin) Topical for Dogs kills adult fleas and prevents flea eggs from hatching for one month and is indicated for the prevention and control of flea infestations, prevention of heartworm disease, and the treatment and control of ear mite infestations. Selarid also is indicated for the treatment and control of sarcoptic mange and for the control of tick infestations. Available in 3-month/3-dose applicators and 6-month/6-dose applicators of flea and tick solution for pets, depending on their weight.How it Works
The active ingredient in Selarid, Selamectin, prevents heartworms from progressing to the adult stage when given to dogs or cats within 30 days of exposure.
Special Precautions
Keep away from children and animals. Do not massage Selarid into the skin. Do not apply when the coat is wet. Do not apply to broken skin -Selarid contains alcohol. Wash hands after use and wash off any product in contact with the skin immediately with soap and water. Flammable - keep away from heat, sparks, open flames or other sources of ignition. Selarid should not be used on sick, debilitated or underweight animals.
Overdose Information
Contact your nearest emergency animal hospital.
Side Effects
Selarid, like all medications, has some potential side effects. The most common is hair loss as the application site. This may present with or without accompanying inflammation and redness. Other less common side effects include vomiting, diarrhea with or without blood, anorexia (decreased appetite), lethargy (sluggishness), salivation, rapid breathing, pruritus (itching), urticaria (welts, hives), erythema (skin redness), ataxia (incoordination), fever and rare instances of death. Rare reports of seizures in dogs have also been noted. Some pet owners reported the clumping of hair, stiff hair, or hair discoloration at the application site, but these effects are temporary and do affect the effectiveness or safety of Selarid.
Storage
Keep out of reach of children and pets. Selarid is flammable - keep away from heat, sparks, open flames or other sources of ignition. Store below 86°F. After application, empty applicators can be placed in your normal household refuse for disposal.

Do not massage Selarid into the skin.
