Q: Do you sell the correct plug-in lamp (with heat guard/ ceramic socket) ideal for use with this ceramic heat bulb- which I understand is safer vs. traditional red brooder bulbs? Can you also kindly provide a link for a compatible thermostat? Thank you
4 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hello, thank you for your question. At this time, Tractor Supply does not list a specific plug‑in lamp fixture with integrated heat guard/ceramic socket that’s designed specifically for that bulb on our site. There also isn’t a dedicated thermostat sold under the same product page for controlling this bulb.4 months agoHelpful?
Q: Can this be used to protect plants from freezing?
4 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hello, thank you for your question. A 100 W ceramic heat lamp can help protect plants from freezing in small, enclosed areas like a greenhouse or under a cover by providing localized warmth. For larger outdoor spaces or more severe freezes, a dedicated heater or additional heat sources may be needed.4 months agoHelpful?
Q: Can it be used to heat a well house?
4 months ago1 Answer
- A: Yes, the GE Ceramic Heat Lamp 100 Watt can be used to heat a well house, and it is a common and effective method for preventing pipes and pumps from freezing in a small, insulated space. The ceramic design is considered a safer alternative to traditional glass heat bulbs because it is damp-rated and less likely to shatter.4 months agoHelpful?
Q: Can use in dog house
4 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hello, thank you for your question. This lamp is marketed for use with chicks and can provide warmth in small, enclosed spaces. However, it is not specifically designed for dogs and can pose a fire or burn hazard if placed too close to bedding, wood, or your pet. If you choose to use it, it must be securely mounted, out of reach, well-ventilated, and constantly monitored. For safer heating in a dog house, we recommend alternatives like heated pads or enclosed heaters designed for pets.4 months agoHelpful?
Q: can this be run 24 hrs a day for extended periods
4 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hello, thank you for your question. It can be used for extended periods when used safely. It must be used in a proper heat-lamp fixture and mounted safely so it can’t fall onto bedding or other flammables. A thermostat is recommended if you want to maintain a consistent temperature and avoid overheating.4 months agoHelpful?
Q: Could you use for kid goats?
4 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hello, thank you for your question. Yes, it can be used for kid goats. Just make sure the lamp is used safely: mount it in a proper heat lamp fixture, keep it high enough to avoid overheating or burns, and ensure the area is dry and secure so goats can’t bump or reach the hot bulb.4 months agoHelpful?

Not a good choice for heating under the sink
4 months ago
We live in a post and beam that is older and during really cold weather the pipes will freeze. So we place heat lamps in various places around the house to prevent pipes from freezing. One of which is under the kitchen sink. Which is where I intended to use this ceramic heat "bulb". Prior to the temps dropping into the teens, I tested this out to see just how warm it would keep that cabinet. The bulb is well constructed and appears it will be more durable that an incandescent heat bulb but it just doesn't put out the same amount of heat. I didn't trust that it would perform the same and swapped it out for a brooder bulb before the temps dropped further. I will eventually find another use for it. It is nice in that it doesn't provide a possibly bothersome light source, it's just in this case I expected more than the product was capable of providing.

This seems a lot more durable than a regular red light heat lamp
