The Buyers Products TGSUV1B 4.4 cu. ft. Tailgate Spreader is a simple and effective tool for residential spreading of #1 free flowing rock salt. With its compact size, hitch mount design, and auxiliary power plug adapter, the TGSUV1B makes it easy to spread with an SUV or a 1/2, 3/4, or 1 ton truck. It features a corrosion-resistant 4.4 cu. ft. poly hopper. The hitch mount is compatible with 1-1/4 in. or 2 in. Class 3 or 4 receivers and can fold away for easy tailgate access. The gravity-fed spreader has a manual open/close gate and a 9 in. poly spinner that can cast up to 14 ft. Its 1/8 HP, 12V motor is powered via an auxiliary plug connection with a manual on/off switch.Proudly Made in America, this Receiver Mounted Tailgate Spreader is Perfect for Contractors, Driveways, Sidewalks and Other Walkways, Residential Property Maintenance, Small Parking Lots, and More!

works like a charm

oh man this is a time saver, lets me salt the whole park in like 10 mins, you can adjust the amount of salt that comes out about 1/2 way open and traveling about 5mph works like a charm never had the salt get stuck or anything. i did add a piece of clear 10 gauge vinyl around where the metal splash guard is to keep it from trowing salt on the back of my trailblazer but if your not worried about that then its not necessary. but this is the best thing since sliced bread lemme tell you that yeehaw im gonna go sling some salt now

Salt dog spreader.

Would not recommend. Tried using it and it failed miserably. Put one bag in to try it out and it just dumped out with the door half open, 50lb bag gone in 45 seconds. Then when we tried again it did nothing but clogged up because there is no internal auger. I would not recommend this unit at all. Big waste of my time

Good for the price!

Works reasonably well for a cheaper spreader however, it does jam up on larger pieces of rock salt. If you use bagged salt which tends to clump, be prepared to unplug the spreader. This is powered by a 12v plug. We ran it through the passenger door and still had plenty of length. The power switch is in line with the power cord, so installation is quick.

Great spreader but it doesn’t distribute the salt evenly. It throws more off the drivers side. I have played with the guard and that doesn’t fix it. I had the same spreader before and that worked better.
