Veterinarians may prescribe Rimadyl (Carprofen) Caplets to dogs over the age of 6 weeks old. Rimadyl is an NSAID formulated to control long-term joint pain and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia or other joint-related issues. Rimadyl is available by prescription only and comes in a caplet form to be administered to your dog orally.How it Works

Rimadyl is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) that works by decreasing inflammation symptomatic of various joint conditions. Because this drug is non-steroidal, it is more appropriate for treating conditions requiring long term use.

Special Precautions

Not for administration in cats. Do not use in dogs displaying carprofen hypersensitivity.

Side Effects

Pet parents should be aware of the following adverse responses indicative of sensitivity or rejection of the drug:

• Decreased appetite
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Dark or tar-like stools
• Increased water consumption
• Increased urination
• Pale gums due to anemia
• Yellowing of gums, skin, or whites of the eyes due to jaundice
• Lethargy
• Incoordination
• Seizure
• Behavioral changes

Notes* Adverse responses may occur suddenly. Contact your veterinarian at once if your pet shows any signs/symptoms of those listed above. Most pets who have suffered negative reactions have recuperated with the help of veterinarian care and immediately stopping drug intake. Follow up visits are recommended while taking an NSAID.
