Veterinarians may prescribe Rimadyl (Carprofen) Caplets to dogs over the age of 6 weeks old. Rimadyl is an NSAID formulated to control long-term joint pain and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia or other joint-related issues. Rimadyl is available by prescription only and comes in a caplet form to be administered to your dog orally.How it Works
Rimadyl is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) that works by decreasing inflammation symptomatic of various joint conditions. Because this drug is non-steroidal, it is more appropriate for treating conditions requiring long term use.
Special Precautions
Not for administration in cats. Do not use in dogs displaying carprofen hypersensitivity.

Carprofen
The recommended dosage for oral administration to dogs is 2 mg/lb. of body weight daily. The total daily dose may be administered as 2 mg/lb. of body weight once daily or divided and administered as 1 mg/lb. twice daily. For the control of postoperative pain, administer approximately 2 hours before the procedure.
