- A: We recommend you choose two new, clean (free of knots) planks of Douglas Fir. For this model use 2 x 8s (1-1/2" x 7-1/2"). For additional strength use oak planks.8 years agoHelpful?
Q: why don't ramp tops fit against end of 2x8; there's a gap. Is this some kind of engineering design or just a miscalculation when moulding the part

Added these to 2 2x8 doug fir boards to make a ramp to slide a spa off of a deck and it worked perfect! I just drilled holes for screws to keep them from sliding off the deck.
