Item Information

The Reese Towing Round Bar Weight Distribution System is designed to improve handling by distributing some of the weight off the tongue and onto the other axles. It allows the tongue weight to be distributed appropriately off the rear axle of the tow vehicle and onto the front axle, as well as the axle (or axles) of the trailer. With that leverage, the weight balances out and driving performance increases dramatically.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very well built I pull a 34 foot toyhauler with a F150 and without this hitch its all over the place and now it's like it's not even bad there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy duty round bar weight distribution hitch This is a great product. It helps to distribute the weight over your towing vehicle. This allows you to maintain proper steering allowing for a safer tow. I no longer have to be concerned with the majority of the weight being on the rear of the truck causing the front to wander and allowing the vehicle to sway as I approach highway speeds. Now that I have this I wonder why I ever towed with out it. It is simple to install. Once installed properly when a load is trailered the weight is spread over the vehicle allowing the front and rear to drop evenly. Again making for a safer tow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purchased to pull an 8.5x20 enclosed trailer with our Yukon XL. Total load is around 6,000lbs and you don't hardly know the trailer is back there with this hitch. Installation was very easy as is connecting and disconnecting. I've pulled in some very strong winds, however the trailer doesn't sway even without a sway bar installed. Very stable and smooth pull.

Can this be used on a trailer with a single square tube to attach the bars to. I have a boat trailer.

Asked by: Gsbd
You would not. Generally weight distribution hitches (WDH) only works with A Frame Trailers. We have a pole tongue adapter., but it's capacity is significantly less than the WDH that you are looking at.

Is this too stiff for a trailer with GVW of 7500 lbs and tongue weight of 700?

Asked by: Zeke585
12,000 lb bars will make your ride stiff. A 10,000 bar will give you a smoother ride without pushing the weight capacity limit of an 800 lb bar.

Would I need this if the tongue weight is only 400 lbs?

Asked by: B400
Yes, tongue weight should be about 10-15 percent of the gross trailer weight for most trailers. Too low a percentage of tongue weight will often produce a tendency to sway. Excess weight on the tongue can also lead to sway and damage hitch and / or tow vehicle. Proper trailer loading is important.

Can you back a trailer with this hitch on?

Asked by: mike70443
This product is simply a weight distribution system, not a hitch. You can back up your trailer with it on.

Does it help with trailer sway ?

Asked by: Nateking86
This model only assists with dispersing the weight. As far as sway control goes, part 26002 in conjunction with the Weight Distribution would help with sway.
