The Polyflex Active Ampicillin is a drug used for combatting many types of bacteria. It's effective against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, making it a suitable treatment option for diseases such as pneumonia, respiratory tract infections, Strep and more. Polyflex is safe to administer to cattle, including calves and lactating dairy cows, and comes in a 200 mL vial. FDA approved. How it Works
Polyflex is an antibiotic injectable solution that offers bactericidal bacteria against susceptible gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Some of the many uses of Polyflex are:
- E.coli
- Pasteurella multocida
- Streptococcus spp.
- Staphylococcus spp.
- Klebsiella spp.
- Aerobacter spp.
- Bacterial pneumonia (bovine pneumonia, calf pneumonia, and shipping fever)
- Respiratory tract infections
- Do not use in animals with a history of allergic reaction to cephalosporin, penicillin, or similar medications.
- Follow label instructions for meat and milk withdrawal.
- Do not administer for more than 7 days. 3 days' worth of treatment usually produces desired results, but the animal should be treated for 48 to 72 hours after symptoms and/or fever subside.
- Do not slaughter cows for food while being treated with Polyflex, or for 6 days (144 hours) following the final treatment.
- Do not use milk in treated cows for food during treatment or for 4 milkings, or 48 hours, following the last treatment.
In case of adverse reaction, consult your nearest animal hospital.
Side Effects
Polyflex can cause an allergic reaction. If such a reaction occurs, withdraw use and treat the cow with corticosteroids, pressor amines, and/or antihistamines).
Storage
Store between 15 - 30°C (59° - 86°F). After reconstitution, store under refrigeration.
