Q: is there any reason i could not use these to make a bench? they look perfect!

Doesn't Fit 2 x 4s

2x4s do not come close to fitting. Online description makes it seems as though 2 x 4s are the correct size but the wording never say 2x4 - "something like properly sized". "Properly sized" is smaller than 2 x 4.

It does the job.

The assembly is easy enough. The brackets allow you to make the log storage almost any size. Mine is only 4 feet long and 2 feet high and I have it mounted on a furniture mover. I can easily wheel it over to the edge of my deck and load it up.
