I bought this dog house over two years ago. I have a 100 lb. American Bulldog, 45 lb. beagle cross and a 35 lb. mutt. All three homo's fit comfortably together inside the extra large dog house. They sleep in it every night.

I hate the idea of buying dog houses. I'd rather build them. But we had several days of rain to be followed by several days of snow (Texas weather!) and our dogs were just too dirty to be in the house, at all. I calculated the cost of materials for houses and the offerings at Tractor Supply were close enough in price, especially if you consider all of the time involved. Hook up a trailer and off we go. I'm not a frequent customer of Tractor Supply, but I will be in the future. We were helped immediately after we walked in, and 15 minutes later we drove away with three XL dog houses loaded in the trailer. I didn't have to load them. Dogs like them. After ten minutes of sniffing around they had each picked a house and were chewing rawhide bones in them. Each house got a dog bed and when the snow started, after some obligatory friskiness in the yard because of the new experience of snow, each dog was happily ensconced in their new houses. At night, I peeked and they were in the back of the igloos. In the daytime, they moved to the front. Our dogs are a couple to a few years old so there was no chewing. I call the igloos a success, financially and for the dogs. They are sturdy and will probably outlast the dogs, if not me! The fact that they can be taken apart and cleaned is a bonus, as is the fact that they can be taken apart to move. When we brought them home I took them apart on the trailer. The dome portion is pretty wide, and just fit through our 36 inch doors, saving me a long walk around to the fence gate. There is really no way around the awkward carry of the domes. My wife has arthritis and is tiny - - she probably could not manage the domes through the doors because there is no easy way to carry them. One other nice feature is that water drains out of them. I had a dogloo a couple of decades ago and it was at least as sturdy, but held water and did not have the slight curve from the front opening to the back den. I think these are an improvement on the old design.
