- Wintergreen boxwood, aka Korean boxwood or Littleleaf boxwood, is one of the more cold hardy varieties of the boxwood shrubs
- Great choice as a foundation plant, formal hedge or in landscape designs
- Tolerant of transplanting, the shallow roots of the Wintergreen boxwood are easy to move to the desired planting site
- Wintergreen boxwood growth rate is on the slow side, growing between 2 in. to 3 in. annually until fully mature
- Full grown Wintergreen boxwood can grow up to 3 ft. to 4 ft. tall and 4 ft. to 5 ft. wide, making it a more boxy plant
- When pruning Wintergreen boxwoods, all you really need to do is remove dead and diseased branches; you can also trim overgrown branches to help improve the airflow
- Wintergreen boxwood is simple to look after when you know a few things to look out for; weekly watering is recommended for the first 2 years after planting your boxwood and mulching is recommended for retaining moisture; fertilize lightly in early spring
- Features a very dense, compact growth habit, making the boxwood shrub excellent for borders or fences
- Broadleaf evergreen/Korean boxwood/wintergreen variety has a botanical name of Buxus microphylla
- Avoid planting in windy areas; their soil needs are adaptable, although they prefer organic, well-drained soil
- Requires shearing or pruning in the spring to achieve and maintain their desired shape
- Wintergreen boxwood bush is well known for its continuous dark green color
