Q: Is it one piece or do you have the screw together pieces?
13 days ago1 Answer
- AI-generatedA: This shepherd hook consists of multiple pieces that require assembly. To install it, you screw the bottom portion of the pole into the ground through the center of the base disc and then attach the stabilizer feet using the included screws.7 days agoHelpful?
Q: What size screw is supposed to go in the stabilizer feet, mine didn't come with any?

Q: What is the width of the bulb at the top?
2 months ago1 Answer
- A: Howdy neighbor! The "bulb" at the top of the Panacea 88 in. Steel Beast Shepherd Hook is actually a 1-inch thick tubular steel frame rather than a decorative bulb. While product listings often mention a 5-inch width, this refers to the depth of the shipping box or the hook's clearance, not a decorative top piece.2 months agoHelpful?
Q: What’s the purpose of the hole on the pole a few inches above the disc?
2 months ago1 Answer
- AI-generatedA: The hole on the pole is used to secure the two extra stabilizer feet. These pieces clamp onto the lower part of the main shaft just above the round disc to provide additional support and stabilization once the hook is fully inserted into the ground.2 months agoHelpful?
Q: How far out does the “arm” extend? The specifications on here say a 5” width???
2 months ago2 Answers
- A: The hook on the Beast Shepherd Hook can accommodate a hanging basket that is up to 16" in diameter. The 5" width actually refers to the depth of the shipping box, as the feet fold flat for shipping, and then when installed, the feet criss-cross.2 months agoHelpful?
Q: Do you screw it in first then push the tines in?
3 months ago2 Answers
- A: To install the Panacea 88" Steel Beast Shepherd Hook (Model #84603), you should first place the disc on the ground, then screw the bottom portion of the pole into the hole in the center of the disc and into the ground. Next crisscross the feet/tines over the surface of the disc and hammer them into the ground with a rubber mallet for extra support.3 months agoHelpful?
Q: How do you use the 2:extra pieces that come with the hook. I’m assuming they screw on somewhere near the base to add extra support but how?
2 years ago1 Answer
- A: The 2 extra pieces clamp on to the lower part of the main shaft, perpendicular to one another, just above the round disc. Then as you screw the Hook into the ground you press these extra 4 feet into the ground as well which adds even more stabilization once fully inserted into the ground. I'm not able to attach photos to this response through Bazaarvoice, but if you email our customer service department at customer.service@panaceaproducts.com we would be happy to reply with additional photos.2 years agoHelpful?
Q: What is the length from the ground to the hook? (ie. height not counting the part that goes into the ground.). the description says 88" but idk if that includes the buried part.
2 years ago1 Answer
- A: Once in the ground, from the ground to the bottom of the hook is 70", from the ground to the top is 79".2 years agoHelpful?
Q: What weight would this hook hold?
3 years ago1 Answer
- A: It is designed to hold up to 30 lbs but this depends quite heavily on what type of soil it's being used in. It will be sturdier in dense soil like clay, than it will be in softer soil or soil that has sand in it.3 years agoHelpful?

Missing parts.
The Beast is very good and we look forward to great service from it. Unfortunately, two parts were missing from the unit we purchased. Specifically, two u-shaped cross bar support pieces that would be driven into ground to stabilize the unit were missing. I had to augment the support structure to compensate for the missing pieces. There should have been an easy to reach product support line that would readily ship me replacement parts.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Product is Great; Shipping was Not
These are indeed "steel beasts," because they showed up at my house merely wrapped up in a couple of layers of (torn) movers' plastic wrap, and looked like they'd seen some stuff. I got three of these: two were considerably scraped up and one was also moderately scraped up, but also missing both of its screws. Miraculously, all of the required stabilization feet were still zip-tied to the hooks, which is why I only grumbled instead of calling and complaining.
After a trip to the home center to get replacement screws and black spray paint, all were basically as good as new. Save yourself the hassle (and, quite frankly, potential injuries to the shipping company employees from the auger stake when it inevitably stabs through the plastic wrap) and buy these in-store if you can. They are great, beefy hooks. If they can survive shipping, they'll probably survive most anything.
Yes, I recommend this product.
