The high frequency beep is very intermittent and the squirrels don't like it--but bats do and that's ok with me. I set it on the windshield and let it run for days at a time.

We had mice or chipmunks eating the filters on one of our cars, so we decided to buy this device before they ate something more expensive. It is easy to turn on and install; the instructions say the batteries should last six months. Since installing, we have not had any further issues with animals eating the filter. My husband is able to hear the device when he's outside the car, but I cannot. Neither of us can hear it inside the car. It also doesn't seem to bother our cat even when we have the windows open. So far, I am really happy with our purchase! The only thing I can add is that it does not come with batteries, so you will need to buy them separately.

Looked nice. well built.
Have six cats. Tried keeping them off hood of new car. Set 2 boxes in front of car on pavement.
All six sniffed it while it was working. They all walked right over them. Didnt bother them at all.
Worthless!!!
