The main difference between used coffee grounds from your average coffee pot and coffee grounds that are specially processed for use as chicken bedding is how they are handled afterward. This ensures that the grounds are completely dry before they are packaged, which helps prevent mold and creates a clean, dry bedding material for the coop. The product itself is good, however…

Based on reviews, I swapped out the pine shavings, yes! these leave a layer of dust in the room your brooder is placed, thinking no more dealing with the dust. Yes the room smells fresh but the coffee gets into the water and food so the chicks are inadvertently eating and drinking the grounds. Can’t imagine this is good for two week old chicks. Not to mention, every food and drink container has black dust on it. After 2 days, cleaned out the brooder and returned to the pine shavings.
No, I do not recommend this product.

My Girls Are Obsessed and So Am I

I switched to OverEZ Coffee Bedding a few months ago and honestly wish I had found it sooner. I live in Middle Tennessee and was looking for something that could handle the heat and humidity we deal with down here without getting soggy, smelly, or moldy fast. This bedding checks every box.
The absorption is genuinely impressive — it handles moisture and odor way better than pine shavings alone. The coop stays fresher between cleanouts and the ammonia smell I used to notice is basically gone. I do layer a small amount of pine shavings in with it, but the coffee does the heavy lifting.
If you're a detail-oriented flock keeper who wants a premium, natural bedding that your chickens will actually enjoy, this is it. Highly recommend.
