If it is so rocky that it can't retain moisture or sustain life, then this plant will fail without amending the area with soil first. Butterfly Bushes are absolutely a drought tolerant native once established though, and are a popular choice for areas that experience hot, dry summers. These plants are nice and healthy, but smaller than I'd envisioned. I built a mulch ring around them so they wouldn't be mowed over.

Terrible- packed in to small box and too small plastic pots- pots dented- dirt everywhere and most planes dead or near dead. No return policy! Biggest mistake- look elsewhere

The dormant bushes have started to sprout leaves so this is a great sign (a week). Whether the roots develop enough before fall is the next concern (the 3 stars for the leaves to confirm the plant is alive bur cannot provide 5 stars until the plant fully blooms .

Plenty of life left After being in a box for several days Plants look beautiful I would definitely order again Due to the hardiness of these plants Just had to remove A little bit of dead leaf Off of the honeycomb Bush however The 24 inch butterfly bush weren't untouched all I did is water them after being in the container for days and I think they look great
