If it is so rocky that it can't retain moisture or sustain life, then this plant will fail without amending the area with soil first. Butterfly Bushes are absolutely a drought tolerant native once established though, and are a popular choice for areas that experience hot, dry summers. Plenty of life left After being in a box for several days Plants look beautiful I would definitely order again Due to the hardiness of these plants Just had to remove A little bit of dead leaf Off of the honeycomb Bush however The 24 inch butterfly bush weren't untouched all I did is water them after being in the container for days and I think they look great
