I have two small dogs that are outdoor dogs. The central valley of California gets very hot, so the ability to place a bunch of ice and water into this is fantastic. The ice does not melt very fast.The seal works great right now. Filling it is easy. It's very important to read the short instructions for how to fill it up correctly.

Does not work well for large dogs because bowl are is small and container interferes with dog’s nose in getting a drink. Plus water does not flow properly unless lid is tight and difficulty to re-open

If you only need 1 to 2-gallon dispenser it may work, but the rest of the water will overflow onto your floor. Being able to fill it through the top from the bathtub would have worked great, but no matter how hard or how many times we tried to get the lid to seal, it would slowly overflow from the lower pan. In addition, I would have to try to tighten it so much, my wife could not get it to open to refill it. We bought it because I have back surgery scheduled and neither me or my wife will be able to pick up the old 4-gallon dispenser we have. Great idea but poor lid design. Very disappointed and had to return it. We also called the manufacturer for help and was told that he would talk with production, but never heard back. Even if you can use it outside and overflowing is not a problem, be sure a 1 to 2-gallon capacity works.
