This easy to install gate lock is recommended for gate leafs over 8 ft. long, high wind areas, or additional reinforcement against unwanted intrusion to your property. Backed by a 1 year warranty.

Q: What is the voltage needed for operation? Some say 24volts and this said solar or dc. No voltage requirement

- A: David - might need a little more information from you, but all our Gates are 12-volt systems. If you need any help troubleshooting anything our Tech Support Team is here for you. They can be reached at 1-800-543-1236 M-F 8am-7pm and Sat 10am-6pm EST. We have a new TECHSEE feature (like Facetime) which helps the Tech see in live time what you are seeing. Q: We are having trouble finding bolts or anything that we can use to connect this to the post so we can set it up?

- A: HI Erica Douglass, Use mounting hardware up to 5/16 in diameter. Check out the manual on page 3 illustration B and C. Your local Tractor Supply store would be happy to help you find and purchase this hardware. You can also contact our Tech Support. Q: Our gate pipe/panels are horizontal and the lock is too heavy to be mounted on the gate. Can the lock be mounted on the post and receiver mounted on the gate? Basically, the lock will be mounted vertically on the post? Will the lock function properly?

Works Great, sort of

I am incredibly happy with the latch. It's built VERY SOLID and I believe will stand up to a fair amount of abuse. The issue I am having is with the opener and gate. Because of slight ground movement, the gate doesnt always close to its full position. It does close enough for the latch to catch it, but it tends to move back forward after it closes. If the gate isnt FULLY closed (against the back of the latch stop), when it opens, the latch gets hung up on the curved latch and it wont release. When this happens, it blows a fuse and I am stuck on one side or the other. Either way, I have to pull the opener off and open it up to replace the fuse. Again, this is a function of the gate and ground movement. As for the latch, it works great.

I have installed the mighty mule gate openers on many gates in many different areas. This is the first time I have installed the lock. The latch releases so fast that is catches the gate before it can open past the pin. This causes the fuse to blow in the opener. I can't understand why the latch has to close so fast. There should be a timer setting or there is no need for the latch to close before the gate is fully open. I had to do some creative engineering (ie: I installed a spring inside the catch to push the gate open quickly before the latch closed). It still only works part time.

Just what I needed
a year ago
This is the 3rd gate lock I've purchased and I finally found one / brand that works. It is so nice to have my gate open, shut & lock so that the dogs cannot push the gate open far enough to escape through it.
