Designed for do-it-yourself projects, these drill bits are suitable for use on wood, wood composites, plastics, and softer metals such as aluminum and copper. The 135° split-point tip on bits 1/8 in. (3.17 mm) in diameter and larger helps prevent walking and eliminates the need for a center punch on many applications. Bits 3/16 in. (4.76 mm) in diameter and larger feature three flats on the shank to provide a more secure grip in the drill chuck and help reduce slipping. The rolled-forged, high-speed steel construction is ideal for repetitive drilling in common materials while delivering dependable performance. This set is not recommended for drilling hard metals such as stainless steel.
