Made in the USA, the Magpul MOE AKM Hand Guard is a replacement for original stamped receiver AK-47/AKM/AK-74 pattern rifles with a front sling loop on the hand guard retainer. Featuring an extended gripping portion; reinforced, heat-resistant polymer construction, integrated black oxide coated stainless steel heat shield; M-LOK mounting capability and replacement gas tube cover. Slots at the three, six and nine o'clock positions for mounting direct-attach M-LOK accessories or M-LOK 1913 Picatinny rail sections. Accepts factory cleaning rod. Includes replacement polymer top cover, compatible with UltiMAK Optics Mount top cover. *Note- the MOE AKM Hand Guard is a direct replacement for standard AK-47/AKM/AK-74 pattern hand guards and utilizes the existing hand guard retaining cap with or without sling loop. Due to the wide range of tolerances of your typical AK, minor fitting may be required. Not compatible with Yugo pattern rifles, RPK style receivers or milled receivers. Hand Guard counts as one US compliance part for 922(r).

Bought this hadguard a few weeks ago, put it on my AK-74 the day I got it. So far, I like how it looks, and while at the range, I notice it takes a little while longer to feel the heat through this handguard compared the the last one I had on it. Only problems I ran into with this handguard are minor issues, such as it only having two MLOK slots on the bottom, which limited the picatinny rail length to mount an AFG to it, and the side slots not liking the thumb rest (the top edge of the handguard is being pressed into the gas tube cover) or accepting Type 2 slot covers.

Modernize your AKM in 5 minutes

Top heat shield did not fit WASR10, even after fitment. I was able to get it half way around the gas tube, but was afraid of bending my retainers, so I stopped. Bottom handguard fit perfectly and was a very good replacement to the standard furniture in terms of features and comfort. I was able to put on a BCM stubby + light and QD mount which gives the AKM some modernization. Again, I don’t fault magpul for fitment because AKMs are not standard. It honestly looks better without the heat shield.

I'm an idiot. so there is a little metal tab you on the front of the receiver you remove (hands) to put this on. duh. it's PERFECT! yes it fits! if it doesn't try again!
