Magpul Bolt Action Magazine Well Hunter 700 Stock, Polymer, Black, Includes PMAG5 7.62 AC Magazine

This set-up should be the industry standard for "bottom metal" and detachable magazine, regardless of the rifle's manufacturer. I set this up for my .308 Remington 700, and it fits like it was simply made to be. Fit and finish are 100%, and the quality control is just flawless. Magpul hits a home run once again. I recently purchased a Remington 700 BDL chambered in .308 Winchester. The rifle worked well, but the stock unfortunately had some finish problems which caused the barrel to sit unevenly. Thankfully I'm a fan of Magpul stocks! I traded out the factory stock for the 700 Hunter stock, and installed the associated short action magazine well because popping a five-round magazine from the bottom of the rifle is SO much easier than 'thumbing' four rounds from the top, especially when a sight is mounted. Only problem - the magazine will not fully 'seat' unless and until I have the bolt action open. Also, inserting a magazine into the well is an upper-body workout - you really need two hands to get a mag into the well. Previous iterations, including a Ruger American version in .223, allows the shooter to fully seat a magazine with the bolt closed, and seemed to be easier to insert into the well. These issues aside, I expect to be spending a lot of time on the range this summer!

One of the easiest installs you can do. Completes the look of the Hunter Stock. Makes my Remington 700 SPS look awesome. No issues with the trigger guard as reported by some other buyers. The top of the magazine has a slight rub on the bottom of the bolt, but that should be remedied fairly easily. Thanks, Magpul!

Outstanding Magpul product! The instructions could be more clear. It is necessary to remove the insert from the magazine well area on the Hunter 700 stock to install this item.
