Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for backyard hatching. Bought this 2.5 years ago and it has been great. It was was my first attempt at hatching and did not want to have an expensive investment to try something new to me. It was hard keeping the humidity and temps constant, but I had a 70% hatch, (7/10 - I started small). The next hatch, now that I had some experience, I made a couple of adjustments to placement and set up. This time 80% hatch, (stayed with 10). One more tweak for the third batch and had 90% hatch. The next batch I tried 20 eggs and 21 days later I had 18 peeps in the brooder, that was a 90% hatch. I am happy with it. This is an inexpensive and easy way to hatch eggs, if you are just trying to keep your flock going. It would not be for someone trying to hatch large numbers to raise money. It is a good backyard incubator.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it’s supposed to.... It does what it’s supposed to do. I purchased after my (secure and fenced in) barn birthed a duckling during a period of hot and humid weather (the duckling came running out one day, looking to the drakes to find a mom). We have an old barn with a dirt floor. I figured, if the barn could do it, so could I. I’m about a week away from first hatch. About 5 duck eggs were rotting. Several embryos stopped growing. Several are still alive. I did not remove the protective coating, nor did I candle them to check fertility when I began (we have enough drakes that I wasn’t concerned about losing an egg that way). Turning the eggs was easy—sometimes if you just bump into it, all the eggs roll (I don’t recall seeing my barn roll an egg, though; and I have no broody birds). Water is easy to add and monitor. However, the incubator is VERY sensitive to temperatures outside itself. We had a major cool-down recently, afterwards the incubator felt cooler inside. The temp read about 1 degree cooler, but it felt cooler than that. I think I may try adding some dirt next time, following the barn’s example. My ducks bury their eggs in the hay and dirt when they can. The incubator does what it’s supposed to. The learning curve is my own.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk I just failed to hatch an expensive bunch of eggs. This is my 2nd one and 2nd fail. I have 2 old style incubators one still air and a forced air I've used and still use that i got in 1 the eairly 90's and one i got in 82 while in school. Just hatched 24 out of 30 in one and plan on loading the other soon. AM NOT HAPPY!!!

Unfortunately, the fan you are looking for is the Circulated Air Fan Kit for the Little Giant 9300 Incubator (Model# 7300). We do not carry that product at this time.

Is the fan a necessary accessory for this incubator?

Asked by: MrsE
A fan is not necessary. However, adding a fan kit to your still air incubator is a great way to increase your hatch rate.
