Keep ketoconazole and all drugs out of reach of children and pets. Ketoconazole is a prescription drug and should be used according to your veterinarian's directions, and it should only be given to the animal for which it was prescribed. Do not give this medication to a person. Ketoconazole should not be given to animals that are allergic to it, or drugs like it. Ketoconazole should be used with caution in animals that have liver disease or in animals that are pregnant or nursing.
Side Effects

Liver toxicity (more frequently in cats than in other animals), decreased platelet count, and temporary lightening of the hair coat are less common side effects.
