KBS Coatings Trunk & Floorpan Kit, Oxide Red/Black

The KBS Trunk and Floorpan Repair Kit restores a rusted floor pan, trunk, or pickup bed without replacing the panel, and it works just as well on rusted tractor floors, cab floors, and trailer decks. It includes a gallon each of KBS Klean and RustBlast, a quart of RustSeal in Oxide Red, a 1 lb NuMetal epoxy putty in Black, a square yard of BackBone reinforcing mesh, 8 oz of KBS number 1 Thinner, a paint spout, nitrile gloves, a mask, two brushes, a stir stick, and detailed instructions. Clean with KBS Klean, etch and remove rust with RustBlast, bridge holes with BackBone mesh and NuMetal, then seal the whole area with RustSeal. RustSeal cures rock hard yet flexible and resists chips, road salt, fertilizer, and most chemicals. RustSeal is not UV stable, so topcoat any area that sees direct sun with KBS BlackTop or KBS Top Coater.Knock off loose rust and flaking paint with a wire brush, wire wheel, or 320 grit sandpaper. Clean with KBS Klean and rinse, and avoid solvent based cleaners that leave a residue. Treat rusted metal with RustBlast to etch the surface, then rinse and dry completely. Apply RustSeal between 55 and 82 F in moderate to dry conditions, never in rain or on a damp surface. Do not shake the can. Stir thoroughly, pour a working amount into a separate container, and reseal the can. Apply at least 2 thin coats at about 2 mils each. Recoat once the last coat leaves no fingerprint, typically 2 to 6 hours. Thin only with KBS number 1 Thinner or xylene. Cut BackBone mesh to overlap each hole, embed it in mixed NuMetal epoxy putty, and let it cure before sanding smooth and sealing with RustSeal. Topcoat with KBS Top Coater or BlackTop between 3 and 8 hours after the last RustSeal coat, or after 24 hours with a 320 grit scuff.
