I really like this hand truck. I can haul more weight and more boxes at a time. This has saved me time and effort when loading what I won at auctions. It is surprising easy to wheel around. I thought it would a bit difficult due to its size.

This thing is a beast, and almost exactly what I was looking for to move heavy rocks on varied terrain. I immediately improved it a bit and it has performed well for me with rocks near its capacity limit. It doesn’t look especially impressive in the online photos because there’s no sense of scale, but it’s a monster. If the build quality was top notch it would be an easy five stars, but I take issue with enough things that I need to drop one star. The bad: 1: while most tires around this size have a 300-500lb weight rating molded into the sidewall, these tires unfortunately don’t admit any rating (only to fill to 30psi). 2: each wheel uses a pair of sealed bearings (that don’t need or accept additional grease) and yet there is also a zerk fitting that lets you inject grease into the space between the axle and hub. Grease won’t help anything there, and the manufacturer knows that, so there isn’t any grease already in there as shipped. It appears to be a cosmetic zerk fitting merely intended to project an image of heavy-duty quality. 3: the axle is long enough that there’s about 1/2” of play on each side for the wheel to slide in and out (grease in the zerk might actually help if you let it slide there). Fortunately it’s very easy to fabricate bushings out of 3/4” sch 40 PVC pipe to make the wheels remain stable and at their widest span for stability. The okay: The welds are okay although I wish the fenders had been continuously welded instead of just a few 1” sections. The fenders bent slightly in my first few uses with heavy awkward loads, because they very large and could really use a strut supporting their fourth corners. The good: Nice diameter steel tubing, with nice drain holes drilled through the bottom plate. The oversized chin-height handle means a long lever for easy control over the load. My immediate improvements included an old shovel handle repurposed as a crossbar lashed to the upper frame, which allows two people to work together effectively in pulling a heavy load up an incline. I also built an emergency brake out of wheel chocks which can be mounted such that it gets dragged about an inch behind the wheels and any pausing on an incline is safe against roll back. Overall I’m very happy that I could buy this ready made rather than adapting a similar capacity hand truck with narrow solid tires intended only for use on flat concrete. It’s quite well-priced at $180 when compared to the expense and effort of that level of modification. I’m glad I found it!

Big wheels. Big plate. Sturdy frame. Great for larger items.
