This Harris Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth with Included Powder Duster is composed of 100% ground freshwater diatomaceous earth, with no additives. The product is made of the naturally occurring fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of algae that forms in freshwater. These remains are ground up into a soft, fine white powder that carry many different uses. Chemical free and completely safe to use around children and pets, this diatomaceous earth is perfect for your outdoor use. Mined in Nevada and packaged in Georgia in a 4 lb. airtight bag, this diatomaceous earth is easy to apply with the included powder duster.

- A: Hello, thank you for your question. Per the vendor, "Harris Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth is labeled to be added to animal feed at a rate of .02% of the dog's total daily ration of food. Harris Crawling Insect Killer is registered with the EPA and is labeled for killing a broad range of insects and contains the same ingredients. We have to advise according to the package label. I actually bought for an indoor ant problem, but wanted something safe for around my pets and grandchildren, this product was the safest I found. Was extremely easy to use and came with the very convenient dust applicator. Took no time at all to apply to all the areas I needed to. Three days in, and so far no ants!

I use this stuff weekly to keep the mites and lice under control. I dust the girls and also add DE to their dust bath. I would highly recommend wearing a mask to keep yourself safe, and I would also highly recommend DE.
