Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best! Owned only one in the past 30 + or - a year or two. Owned is so long can't remember when I bought it. I have used it for multiple purposes and it has always performed to my expectations. Just use it and it is leaking more than I prefer and was going to fix it but have decided to purchase a new one this afternoon. I would recommend this sprayer. it is a top performer and if someone would want to see all that I have purchased before I owned the fertilome, I still have them in my shed collecting dust. It takes a little care but will outlast any on the market today.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is a piece of junk. Bought this today to apply herbicide to my lawn. First off, it claims that the dial is mL/L. So 2,4-D says 2 ounces per gallon (that's a ratio of 2/128 ~ 0.015) which comes out to 15 mL/L. It only goes up to 10, so fine, I'll just go a little slow to apply more. 2 ounces is supposed to cover 1,000 square feet. I put in 250 mL (more than 8 ounces--should cover 4,000 square feet). The bottle was empty within about 3 minutes of spraying (and I covered probably about 100 square feet). Ok, that's fine, the dial isn't exactly correct (or maybe my hose sprays out too fast). Adjust the dial, no problem there. Tried again on 4; better but still went through the bottle a little too fast. Again, no problem: adjust the dial. Except now when I spray, the bottle swings almost freely as I'm trying to spray my lawn. This makes this product virtually unusable. I suspect that filling the bottle up full, put too much weight and loosened the barely tight junction between the nozzle and the sprayer (see picture explanations below). After it was loosened and began swinging, it continued and I couldn't fix it. Picture 1: How the spray bottle should look. Picture 2 (bottle inverted): definitely shouldn't be able to do that (and this requires virtually zero resistance to rotate). Picture 3 (bottle removed): You see the nut that fastens the bottle to the sprayer. Picture 4 (bolt moved back): You can see that this nut moves freely with the connection to the bottle. which is why the bottle swings freely with respect to the spray nozzle. Picture 5 (spray nozzle): this is clearly a generic hose sprayer that's been jury rigged for this product's purpose (which explains why it's such a shoddy piece of equipment).

Should the dial be set to the sprayer nozzle or that small mark on the right hand side of the brass body? Also, when I bought my sprayer the reducing screw had been removed and is missing. Will it continue to mix Tbsp to the gal with the screw removed.

Asked by: DoodleDaddy
The dial should be set to the small mark on the side of the brass body. If the reducing screw (the gold filter on top of the dial) is removed, it still can mix Tbsp to the gal., but you cannot reduce the flow through the sprayer in this case. Please check your email manual for your reference.

Applications are designed for metric system. But have to convert to silly imperial system for the US customer. Every wonder why the application rate is a strange 3.2 oz/gal or similar. Because 3.2 oz is 100 ml. Most round 4 liters to 1 gal.

Why are you selling a product in the USA that is metered in liters for the metric system??? Last time I checked we Americans were using quarts and gallons.
