Glipizide tablets may be prescribed for diabetic cats to help lower blood sugar levels, making it an effective treatment option for managing feline diabetes. Special Precautions

• Keep out of reach of animals and children.
• Do not administer to nursing or pregnant cats.
• Do not administer to cats with known allergies to this or any other sulfa drug.
• Do not administer to cats with serious trauma, illness, or infection, or cats with thyroid, kidney, or liver disease
• Do not administer to cats who refuse to eat or are showing signs of severe ketoacidosis, fatigue, drowsiness, vomiting, or anorexia
• Do not use during diabetic emergencies, including diabetic comas
• Exercise caution in administering to cats with untreated adrenal or pituitary gland diseases

Overdose Information

Immediately contact your closest emergency animal hospital or vet.

Side Effects

The most common side effects include:

• Hypoglycemia (This occurs in certain cats taking this drug. For this reason, monitoring is important. Hypoglycemia occurs in about 15% of cats taking this medication.)
• Loss of appetite and/or nausea (Administering with food typically helps with these symptoms)

Loss of appetite is particularly dangerous for diabetic pets. If your cat loses interest in food, notify your veterinarian immediately.

Store in a dry and cool environment.

Tips

For diabetic cats taking Glipizide, a low-carbohydrate diet, insulin therapy, and/or insulin may be indicated.
