Q: is it suitable for cantalope
2 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hi Neighbor! The Glamos Wire 54 in. Heavy-Duty Green Tomato Cage is not ideal on its own for cantaloupe, though it can be adapted. Cantaloupes produce sprawling vines and heavy, dangling fruit. A standalone tomato cage is typically too narrow for the vigorous vine spread and won't safely bear the weight of heavy melons without modification.2 months agoHelpful?
Q: is it suitable for watermelons
2 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hi Neighbor! Yes, the Glamos Wire 54 in. Heavy-Duty Green Tomato Cage is suitable for watermelons, but only for smaller, compact varieties (like Sugar Baby). Because watermelons grow heavy fruit, the vertical bars and cage structure will need careful management to prevent the plant or cage from toppling over.2 months agoHelpful?
Q: Why do they say heavy duty? I was taking the sticker off the top ring and one of the legs fell off. Gorilla glue looked like it would hold better then the weld I seen. Returning it today. Bought 4 I'll try those against dirt, but chances are they'll fail.

too small

These cages are much smaller than the ones I bought last year at the same price ... Smaller girth and only 3 vertical tines as opposed to 4 tines ... They will be insufficient for the tomato plants as they grow ... wish I hadn`t bought them ... junk

Decent cage for a decent price

Great price and solid construction. They are a lot more stable if they have four legs rather than three like this does, but these should work.
