GEARWRENCH 44 pc. 12 pt. Long Pattern Combination SAE/Metric Wrench Set

This is the absolute lowest quality and worst set of wrenches I've ever seen in my 40 years of motorsports. I've purchased quite a few sets of GW tools over the years and always been very happy with the quality and value. Those were all made in Taiwan. As another reviewer noted a couple months ago, it appears GW has recently changed to a new supplier in China that is much, much lower quality. These are terrible. Some are bent. Uneven. Curves and edges have all been finished haphazardly. Stampings are crooked and in some places nonexistent. Lots of dings and dents under the chrome from manufacturing. Chrome finish itself looks extremely poor. To be honest I wouldn't be happy with these at any price... not even free. I get the impression Apex is tired of investing in the GW brand and is now trying to extract as much yield as possible, sourcing from the cheapest suppliers no matter how much the quality suffers. Shame.

I bought these and the quality is absolutely JUNK! The chrome is wavey on all the wrenches and does not polish up. The stamping of the closed end is not centered on the wrench. Numbers are stamped on the open ends of some wrenches and not on others. The all-around quality is extremely poor. A couple of wrenches have random stamping dents in them. You can find better-looking wrenches from any other manufacturing! REDICULIOUS!

I've bought this set twice. The first time, I was impressed that they were professionally marked on both ends, on both sides. This was great because in a tool roll you knew which wrench it was. The new sets have removed all markings except for one spot on the handle. If that works for you, great, otherwise please beware. Any official photos you see may no longer be accurate. Per an Apex Tool Group representative, "We do not have the large marking on the open end any more... Change was made at the factory."

There is 19 SAE 1/4" to 1-1/2" and 25 metric 6mm to 32mm (29mm excluded). Each has a 12-point box end offset of 15° and an open wrench head. They are also "long patterned" enabling better access to fasteners in certain scenarios and greater leverage/torque. The geometry for both the open end and 12-point box end of the wrench is designed for off-corner loading, improving torque application up to a measured 25% torque improvement. Each wrench is stamped with the brand, model number, and size of the wrench in multiple areas. After using these wrenches during an afternoon tune-up, I encountered no issues, the offset was utilized as designed, and the long pattern was advantageous. This long-pattern SAE/Metric set offers no plastic, aluminum, or moving parts to break. An ideal purchase knowing the size needed is available. Highly recommended to friends, family, and strangers.
