Best gps I’ve used

I use this daily for work in patrol as a cop. The screen is bright easily readable and has no lag time. It’s also awesome that it uses usb to plug in and not the standard Garmin ac charger. Screen is the perfect size too. Only down side is I don’t know how to turn off the notifications from my phone as I don’t want that to inadvertently be captured on body worn video

Better Than Built-In Navigation

I use this in the family minivan - a 2017 Toyota Sienna. The Sienna has a built-in navigation system, but it is difficult to use and the maps are very outdated. The Garmin is SO easy to use. It pairs with my smartphone to get traffic and weather, and can even control the music that is streaming from my phone to the van's BT stereo.
I do not like using my phone for navigation. The screen on my phone is too small. It is so much more convenient to have a dedicated GPS navigator in the van that is ready to go whenever we need directions.
Map updates can be done over WiFi, but to be honest, it is still a bit of a pain. The updates take a long time to download and install.
The navigation and routing are rock solid. I often compare Garmin's routes with Google maps. Both are good and often the same. When they do select different routes, sometimes the Garmin route is better, and sometimes the Google route is better.

vehicle power adaptor (cig lighter) not included

Took this on a trip and the screen was dark. Unable to see the map. Brightness was at 40% and when I tried to increase it, even though it was plugged into the USB port of the car, it said I had to use the vehicle power adaptor (looks like a cigarette lighter plug) to allow the brightness to increase. Since there is no way to get support for this item, I think this is not a good buy. I would like to return it.
