Furosemide Oral Syrup for Dogs is a diuretic medication used for removing excess fluids from a pet's body. It can help manage a variety of heart, lung and kidney conditions, including heart failure and pulmonary edema, diagnosed in dogs. The syrup is intended for oral use only and comes in a 60 mL bottle with a convenient calibrated dropper. FDA approved diuretic for dogs. How it Works
Furosemide works by increasing the amount of salt and water that the kidneys remove from the blood. This extra salt and water is then passed out through the urine.
Special Precautions
Keep away from children and animals. Do not use in pets with known allergies to Furosemide or sulfa drugs. Furosemide will cause your pet to urinate more often. Your pet may have more accidents and need to go outside more. Use with caution in pets with kidney disease and diabetes. Do not use in animals with the inability to produce urine, progressive kidney disease, electrolyte imbalances, dehydration, liver disease, diabetes mellitus, vomiting, or diarrhea. Do not use in pregnant or lactating females.
Overdose Information
Immediately contact your closest emergency animal hospital or vet.
Side Effects
Dehydration with excessive thirst and increased or decreased urine production have been reported. Electrolyte imbalances, often with rapid heart rate, weakness, depression, vomiting, and restlessness are also possible. If you see any of these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately. Rarely, pets may see an increase in blood glucose level, anemia, pale gums, tiredness, or weakness. A decrease in white blood cells, (making your pet more susceptible to infections) and stomach or intestinal disorders (with vomiting or diarrhea) are also possible, but rare.
