Q: Can you run birdseed through this feeder?

    A: We do not test it for birdseed. The only feeds we have tested it for is corn. I dont see why it wouldnt work. The things you want to avoid are pellet type feeds. The absorb moisture and can clog the downspout.

Great Buy Feeder

This feeder is a beast. All metal, not flimsy, prewired , just join the plugs, easy to assemble, easy set timer, solar capable, heavy duty spinner motor, varmit cage, holds 4 50lb bags of feed, overall a very nice unit. Still gave it 5 stars, but I wish it had a clear feed monitor in the hopper and wished it was a bit taller, but not a deal breaker.

Solid, quality unit

A solid unit. Assembling it was not too difficult using the instructions although I would tip it on its side to install the motor and hook up the wires before setting it upright. Also, a 14mm wrench/socket is required in addition to the 10mm specified. A rheostat could probably be used to control the motor speed for those who think it spins too fast. I think this will last a long time.

The deer love it

Once I was done drilling and sealing the holes to mount the solar panel everything went together fairly easily. You have to lay it on its side to reach the connectors for the motor and the battery compartment cover makes it a little difficult to get the battery in and out. I put a short strap on it. Easy to program and after a few days the deer are starting to adapt to the schedule. Have to wait until spring to see how bearproof it is.
