Diltiazem XR Capsules are indicated for managing hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hypertension, and supraventricular tachyarrhythmia in cats and dogs. This medication helps regulate heart function and control blood pressure. Diltiazem XR is sold by the tablet in 120 mg or 240 mg strengths. How it Works
Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocking medication used by veterinarians to treat patients with cardiac arrhythmia or hypertension. It decreases cardiac afterload, blood pressure, and peripheral resistance, and it also causes vasodilatation. It slows the firing rate of the sinus. When used as directed, it is less likely than other calcium channel blockers to affect cardiac contractility. It is rapidly absorbed when orally consumed, then metabolized by the pet's liver. The bioavailability of this medication is greater in cats than in dogs, and the levels of both cats and dogs are less than those in humans.
Special Precautions
Keep out of reach of children.
