Q: Can tool be loaded with loose rings?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, the DEWALT 11/16 in. Hog Ring Pliers Kit is designed for use with collated strips of hog rings, not loose rings. The pliers feature an automatic, spring-loaded magazine feed system that requires the rings to be in a strip, similar to a stapler.

Another Great Product

I purchased these pliers a couple of months ago for use with an ice machine and they worked great, I have dropped them several times on hard surfaces and these pliers stood up, I like them so well I bought to more sets.

Nothing But Trouble

These pliers are about the most useless tool I've ever used. First, the "galvanized" rings are most definitely not galvanized; they rust in a week being outdoors. The tool can't completely close the rings--they never touch together. Unless you are crimping two pieces of fencing at 90 degree angles (on the outside corner) it's VERY DIFFICULT to get the tool exactly in the right place to get the ring around any thing, and even then the rings don't close together. The pictures on the ring box are a lie! None of the packs of rings I've purchased will ever completely clamp together. The tool doesn't always feed the rings well; the tool unlocks and the rings fall out. This has happened to both pliers I've purchased. I thought maybe I got a defective one--nope! The tool design is defective.

Works well but not what I needed

This looks like a good product but it was not what I need. I wanted it to connect cattle panels but the hog rings were too small. Maybe I can use it for something else.

I would buy again

When I first started using these I was so excited about them. I had previously been using an old rusted pair of hog ringer pliers that I found in my basement, and prior to that I had the ones that were sent to me by a company I purchased some of my fencing through, those were a nightmare and caused a significant amount of pain in my hands after only a short time. I did not know that for $40 I could buy a new pair that would be a breeze to use and cut the amount of time it takes to repair fencing down to a fraction of what it was taking previously. I would have given 5 stars for sure, however, after a couple weeks I have some issues with this product that I think, if addressed, could make them a 5 star product. They are super awkward to use unless you are only using them for straight forward clamping of two wires... its kind of hard to explain but the fact that the clamps come out the way they do is a poor design and can cause issues depending on what your project is. The other issues is how many rings are wasted due to the design of the pliers, but that is an issue with all. hog ringerers I have used. So they are extremely easy to use, I love that it does not hurt my hands at all! And other than that they have the same issues as other ones I have used. I think they are a solid 4 stars and would buy again.
