Is this pump ok to use for engine oil 15w-40?

Asked by: L D
These pumps are not recommended for oil but they will work if using a light weight oil. The life expectancy of the pump will be shortened if anything other than water is used.

What is a bypass mode and does it engage automaticly, or do i have change something?

Asked by: John Mueller
The bypass mode of the diaphragm pump works as an internal relief valve. When the pressure on the pump gets to a set point (like 45 or 60 PSI), then the bypass starts to return some of the fluid back to the pump inlet. If the liquid is blocked completely, then all of the liquid is bypassed back to the pump inlet. The bypass valve holds the pressure on the downstream side of the pump as long as the liquid has nowhere else to go.
