For some reason these latches DO NOT come with the latch rod connectors. As for the old latch the rod connectors are made onto the mechanism so they cannot be swapped making this latch virtually useless.

Lock on latch is cheap. Got stuck and would not rotate to unlock. Key busted off. Now I need to either drill out the lock and replace it or drill out the rivets and replace the whole handle and lock assembly.

Purchased tool box #129892299 and reading reviews just got the latch when making the purchase. Install was 5 minutes and perfect fit. Box is on ranch trailer and gets bounced around pretty good. Latch is holding up great so far. Very happy

I bought a couple of aluminum toolboxes a few years back and put one on my son's pickup. While the boxes are pretty nice, the latches were crap and were starting to have lots of issues opening. There was far too much fore and aft play in the hook latch and it would catch on the lower assembly, preventing opening. So I was looking for replacement latches. I found these and checked all the measurements, they are an exact fit. Then my son's toolbox was broken into. So, I had to order these immediately. One was in stock locally and three were shipped to the store, quite quickly I might add. Thanks TSC. The pictures looked good, and upon opening, I was very pleased. Notice there are two upright pieces, one movable, the other one stationary. The one that doesn't move removes all fore and aft play while also preventing easy theft by going up under the lid with a flexible tool. I drilled out the rivets on the original latches, put these in their place, used the supplied pop rivets with my pop rivet tool, and wow, what a difference. These are the ones to buy, don't even consider the other made in China latches. These also have good locks. Three of the ones were keyed the same, one was different. The lock has a number on the face which matches the key. I would have liked them all to be keyed the same, I am not sure if the tumblers can be changed. However, I can deal with two different keys for one tool box. These are standard sized locks, so replacement will be easy for those parts, too. Anyway, if you are buying them in the store, look at the number on the face if you want the same or different keys. If you order them -- like I did -- you get what you get. I am very pleased with these latches and locks.
