Q&As

1 - 10 of 217 Questions

Q: What is the Flashpoint of the washer fluid

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! The flashpoint of the Crown 5 gal. PSC 1000 Parts Cleaner is 141°F (60.5°C), classifying it as a combustible liquid rather than a highly flammable one. Because this petroleum-distillate solvent is formulated for closed parts washing systems, you must keep it away from open flames, sparks, or heating elements to prevent accidental ignition. To protect your workshop from liability and fire hazards, always operate your parts washer with the lid closed when not in use and ensure your unit features a functioning fusible link safety arm

A: The freezing point of this parts cleaner is similar to that of gasoline, so it will only run the risk of freezing in extreme cold conditions.

Q: does it work as well as laquer thinner

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! While Crown PSC 1000 Parts Cleaner is exceptional for safely dissolving heavy automotive grease, motor oil, and fluid sludge, it will not work as aggressively as lacquer thinner for stripping hard coatings, paints, or sticky resins.

Q: Is this used to soak carburetors to clean them

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! You can safely use Crown PSC 1000 Parts Cleaner to soak metal carburetor bodies, but because it is a mild mineral-spirits solvent, it will take much longer to dissolve tough, baked-on fuel varnish than a dedicated carburetor dip. Before submerging the parts, you must completely remove all plastic floats and rubber gaskets to prevent them from swelling or melting in the fluid. Once the soak is finished, you will still need to manually clear the tiny internal jets with a wire tool or a pressurized spray cleaner to ensure proper fuel flow.

Good Stuff!

My old solvent was per tree hugger. It worked so well it would make a pair of nitrile gloves curl up after a while. Unfortunately you cant get that stuff anymore. I purchased another brand and it was very thin and tended to foam during use and it didn't perform very well. Dawn dish soap would do a better job. I dumped that junk and filled my parts washer with this. This stuff doesn't curl nitrile gloves like the old stuff did and works ALMOST as well. I've been using it on cleaning nasty diesel engine parts and I've been pretty happy with it. Price and performance, I'd buy it again.

Not compatible

Not compatible with the parts washer TSC sold me at the same time. Caused pump failure within 1 week. Called parts washer warranty folks and the first question they asked was what cleaner solution I was using. They said it was not compatible. TSC people don’t advise when purchasing.
