This 8 lb sledgehammer feels like a serious tool the moment you pick it up. The head is securely attached, and the fiberglass handle provides a solid grip with good control during swings. The balance is well thought out, making it easier to deliver accurate strikes while still getting plenty of force behind each hit. I used it for demolition and driving stakes, and the long handle gives excellent leverage. The overstrike protection is a nice feature, especially when working quickly or in tight spaces. I was super excited to receive this new sledge hammer in the mail and see the design for keeping the head secure, overstrike protection, and material quality. The head of all my other sledge hammers and one of my mauls became unsafe while busting concrete to the right size for my wall project. I was able to control the size of the paver chunks as I crushed them for backfill with partial swings and a full smile. Several stacked pavers crushed under a single swing and did not create much shock down the handle. The 8lb head allows for control while still providing a devastating and accurate punch. I have owned several sledge hammers and may have found one that will outlast me. Looking forward to more demolition now.

Great product. Had to use it as soon as it came in. Love the new design the way it's made. Especially that it has a smooth and waffle side both. Not too heavy and no vibration.
