Good for Water Lines too!

I bought this to lay water lines as an alternative to renting a trencher - which is about the same cost for a weekend rental. It was a gamble as to whether it would work, but a U-tube video showed someone doing just that, so I gave it a shot. I drilled a 3/8 hole at the base to connect a 3/4 160 psi black water pipe, and managed to pull the line 260 feet at a depth of 10 in. or more from my barn to the existing water line. My tractor is a Kubota MX58 and I was able to pull the subsoiler at full depth through soil; when I hit a rock layer it ripped large chunks up and pulled them out - without damaging the tool that I could see. I made two passes to make sure I had a clear channel before pulling the pipe, but the final pull went pretty much without a hitch. Amazing!

Bent it like taffy

Didn't realize how weak Cat 1 is, partly my fault for using a 96 HP tactor, hit some nice large Ozarks rocks a few inches under the surface trying to prep a field for plowing. Learned real quick to check Category of implements, adapters on the 3-point hitch don't make the implement any stronger. Thought this thick steel was thick enough.

Raceland Louisiana

Something every gardener should have.

Very satisfied with the results, this is a very useful tool if you make gardens and need to break up the hard pan to aerate and help drain your soil. In southeast Louisiana we have what we call blackjack, it is a dark clay soil that when it’s dry it’s comparable to concrete. It is usually 6-8” under a better top soil. My property was farmed I row crops for over 50 years then I ran horses on it for a few years after. So needless to say the ground was packed. This subsoiler busted right through it and I noticed better drainage right away. I also made some cuts on other places that would hold water that now dry up pretty quickly. I recommend this tool for anyone who has hard pan issues, just be mindful that this is a light to medium duty implement and if you in a place that has rocks or tree roots you may want to go with a beefier model with a trip shank. Overall I think I’ll find many more uses for it. Definitely something you should have in your arsenal of gardening implements.

You don't even know how much you need a subsoiler!

This is one implement that I wasn't sure I needed, but boy am I glad I bought it. This thing rocks! I've come up with so many uses: in addition to using it for what it is meant for (breaking up the subsoil in my garden), I've run numerous underground electrical lines and cables, pulled tree stumps, pulled up big (truck tire sized) rocks, and more!

Sub Soiler

Not bad for the money. I used it to lay 200' of 1/2" pex pipe, and it worked great. If you have rocks, you may be in trouble!
