Q: Do these come any shorter? I dug 80 holes with mine yesterday in some pretty nasty digging and three times when I didn't catch it in time it screwed itself in to where I had to fight it back out by hand. Great auger, just a little too hungry sometimes.

1 Answer
  • A: They don’t come shorter. When you dig a lot of holes in difficult ground you are likely to have to manually solve the issue.

Q: Is this supposed to be loose at the end of the auger bit? I bought a new 9 inch auger and this screw point tip just swings freely and then the whole auger starts shaking.

  • A: The screw point tip is replaceable and held on by a bolt. It is recommended to make sure the bolt is tight.

Screw Point

I go through about 1 per year. We get 20-30 holes. It DOES work better if sharpened regularly. It would be great if this were harder steel and maybe even carbide on the cutting edges.

Disappointed

I bought this about 3 months ago. Dug 2 post holes and worked great. Started working on another fence the other day and got to hole #5. Tip went down in the ground about 6-8 inches and stopped digging. I pulled it up and found that the tip had broke in half.

Bad Boy

This tip is a beast. Had to grind my collar back 1/8" so it would bolt up because I have a Belton but holy crap this bad boy digs. Did 50 holes under an hour.
