Will work in a pinch.

I Bought this tent for car camping while traveling/sight seeing. This tent would be ok for a one and done weekend in the spring, to use in a pinch. My first use, It didn't leak too bad when it rained. One seam had a slight leak that built up a puddle but it was manageable. It withstood the wind but I had to redo the tent stakes to pull the tent tight to keep it from collapsing on me, I was also concerned the poles were going to snap because of how much it was collapsing. This was in 10-15mph wind. I use a 10'x20' tarp under the tent to protect the bottom of it. After a couple of uses, I noticed white marks on the floor. It appears to be the floor is made of a super thin rubber type of paint over a thin mesh fabric and the paint chips off. I bought soft carpet to put over the floor for added protection. Too late, next time it rained the carpet was soaked. I used "Tear-aid" patches in each spot I could find that leaked, they worked great. Now each corner leaks, I'm assuming it's from having it tight to withstand wind. One pole has cracked, my repair job on it is still holding up. If the temps get up above mid 70's, pray for a good wind, it gets way hot inside the tent. Thats with the windows open and the rain fly pulled as far out as possible. A fan helps, if your campsite has electricity. If it gets cold at night, the tent isn't designed to stay warm. Expect to go through lots of LPG keeping the heater going. You might fit two queen size air beds in it if you stack them on top of each other. Setup and tear down is easy, one person can do it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Not water proof at all

Brought this tent camping with our kids. We weren’t expecting rain until the second day but this tent is a weathertec so we weren’t worried about the rain falsely assuming that we would stay dry. Initially we stayed dry for about 30 minutes of drizzling rain but then it started to drip from the top of here the rain cover touches the beams. As the rain picked up it also began to drip in through the sides. We ended up having to get up at 2am to put a tent shade/rain cover over the tent to stay more dry. Then the second night we bought a can of camp dry waterproofing spray. We applied this. It helped a little bit and the second night but water still came through the sides of the tent near the floor. We all slept at the very middle of the tent both nights so not pressed to the sides but it leaked from the roof first before it leaked anywhere else. Very disappointed in the waterproofing. I’m not even sure I’d call it very water resistant.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Customer Care
Hello, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're very sorry to hear that your Sundome® 6-Person Camping Tent didn’t perform as expected in the rain, especially during a family trip where comfort and reliability matter most. The Sundome® tent is built with our WeatherTec™ system, which includes inverted seams, a welded floor, and a rainfly designed to offer extra protection. However, based on your description dripping from the roof and sides within the first 30 minutes of rain, it sounds like something didn’t go quite right. In some cases, water leakage can happen if the tent or rainfly isn’t fully set up as intended. Here are a few things we recommend double-checking during setup to ensure the best waterproof performance: Rainfly Coverage: Make sure the rainfly is stretched taut and properly secured over the tent. It should fully cover the mesh roof and extend well over the windows and seams to direct water away. Tent Tension: Ensure the tent body is evenly staked out and under tension so water doesn’t pool or sit on the fabric, especially at connection points with the rainfly. Seam Sealing: While the tent has factory-sealed seams, applying seam sealer periodically can help reinforce high-stress areas, especially where the rainfly touches the poles. Ventilation: Leave the ground vent open (if the weather allows) to reduce condensation inside, which can sometimes be mistaken for leaks. That said, it sounds like you took all reasonable steps, including using a waterproofing spray on the second night, and the tent still leaked significantly, particularly from the roof and near the floor. That’s not acceptable performance, and we completely understand your frustration. Great Tent—But Zipper Failed Right After Warranty

I did a lot of research before choosing the Coleman Sundome 6P tent, and at first, it truly felt like the perfect choice. It was easy to set up, spacious, and most impressively—completely waterproof. We had some rainy nights and stayed totally dry inside. For the price, I felt like I had found a gem. Unfortunately, just after the one-year warranty expired, the zipper on the main door broke. I’ve tried several DIY fixes from YouTube, but none of them worked. The zipper won’t stay closed, which makes the tent practically unusable now. I’ve searched but can’t even find a Coleman zipper repair service or a clear replacement option. This feels like a quality issue with the zipper, and I’m honestly heartbroken. I loved this tent and wanted it to last for many more adventures. I still think the design and weatherproofing are great, but a tent you can’t zip up properly isn’t one you can trust in the outdoors.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hello Doris, Thank you for reaching out to share your detailed experience and feedback on our Sundome® 6-Person Camping Tent. It’s great to hear that the tent initially met your expectations—especially in terms of setup, space, and weather protection. Staying dry through rainy nights is no small feat, and we’re glad the tent delivered on that front. We’re truly sorry to hear about the zipper issue, especially given how much you valued the tent and the timing just after the warranty expired. Your frustration is completely understandable; a broken zipper can compromise the entire camping experience, and it’s disappointing when a product you trusted doesn’t hold up over time. If you need assistance, or you have more feedback, please contact us via our official "Contact Us" website so that we can assist you further. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am -5pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Coleman Consumer Care.

Rain proof performance is great; shock poles weak

I typically camp (no campgrounds) 6-9 nights a year. This tent has performed perfectly in heavy rains on numerous occasions which is vital and impressive for an inexpensive tent. The bottom/bath has been great. My only complaint is a splintered tent pole section (fiberglass) in the 3rd year (about 18 nights of use) which occurred during regular setup. For comparison, my previous Coleman 6 person tent lasted 14 years with no broken poles before the waterproofing gave out.
