The VG-10 San Mai III blade is perfectly heat treated and a double grind is expertly applied. Then the surface of the blade is polished to a beautiful satin finish and the edges are honed and buffed to hair shaving sharpness! The black G10 scales are fastened to the blade tang by 6 stainless pins and expertly hand shaped and contoured.

This classic sub-hilt design fighter was first developed by Bob Loveless, one of the founding members of the knifemaker's guild. It's perhaps the quintessential combat knife. Its 8" blade offers excellent reach and incredible penetration with very little physical effort. The sub hilt practically eliminates the possibility of the hand being dislodged or coming into contact with the blade. Plus, the sub hilt facilitates rapid and effortless withdrawal after insertion. This knife is outstanding for so many reasons. Looks style, performance, use/abilities, sharpness beyond anything I've owned before and grip while fighting. Secure and stabil, with excellent reach and handling. San Mai iii(Amazing). Cold Steel never a disappointment. Always Top Shelf.....

    Excellent knife

One of the finest knives that I have had in 53 years of collecting. You can't go wrong with this one!

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Missed detail.

It's reasonably well built but if you're going to try to copy the great Bob Loveless, his classic tapered tang is not the thing to miss. The handle is too heavy, leaving the balance too far back in the hand. This allows for very speedy blade movement but significantly reduces momentum in the cut. My only other issue is that despite numerous complaints, "Secure-Ex" sheaths are still just glass-filled nylon and as such, will dull a blade in no time flat.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

I have two earlier Black Bear Classics

I alway anticipated that these fine knives would be outlawed so I bought two about ten or fifteen years apart. The steels used were 440 and AUS 8. They aren’t designed as utility knives but their heft and solid build allow for other purposes.

    Yes, I recommend this product.
