Cerenia (Maropitant Citrate) Tablets are indicated for the prevention and treatment of motion sickness and vomiting in dogs, including those caused by conditions such as vestibular syndrome, aging, or travel-related stress. This has a non-sedative formula, which is effective in preventing canines from vomiting due to motion sickness and nausea. As the only FDA-approved treatment for vomiting in pups, Cerenia provides up to 24 hours of relief. Give these Cerenia tablets for dogs alongside a little bit of food, allowing for ample comfort. How it Works
Cerenia:
- Is an antiemetic containing maropitant citrate
- Prevents acute vomiting by blocking substance P, which is a vomit-triggering compound
Cerenia should not be administered to dogs under 16 weeks old or those with hypersensitivity (allergy) to maropitant citrate. Cerenia should be administered with caution to dogs with a history of liver problems.
Overdose Information
Contact your nearest emergency vet in case of overdose.
Side Effects
The following side effects have been infrequently reported:
- Lethargy
- Drooling
- Decreased appetite
- Drowsiness
- Diarrhea
Storage
Cerenia Tablets should be stored at room temperature 68°-77°F (20°-25°C) with trips allowed between 59°-86°F (15°-30°C ).
Tips
Cerenia should be administered with a small amount of food (but not a full meal) two hours prior to travel. Do not use fatty foods, such as meats or cheeses, to wrap the tablets. This could prevent them from dissolving, delaying Cerenia's effect.
