Q: What’s the widest tire I can put on these rims for hauling 2 small ATVz?

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your question. The included wheel is designed for a 4.80-12 trailer tire, and we are unable to confirm a wider tire size that is approved for use on this rim. Tire size compatibility depends on the wheel width, load rating, trailer clearance, and axle capacity.

Q: Hi, I bought a carry on trailer 5 X 8, so I wanted the spare tire and bought in Tractor Supply this one: 480 12 T, SKW 303115, it does works with my existing tires on the trailer that are ST 145 R12?

2 Answers
  • A: Carry-On trailer does not sell a 5x8 trailer with radial tires so I assume someone changed the tires to radials. The 48 12 tire you bought from Tractor Supply is a Bias Ply tire. You should not run a bias ply tire with radials.

Q: As most if not all US hwy minimum is 65 mph, 55mph is not considered highway legal. Does Carry-on offer a hwy rated tire [ 70pm] for these trailers?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, Carry-On offers highway-rated tires for their trailers, but the standard 4.80-12 bias-ply tire typically has a maximum speed of 65 mph. To legally and safely travel at 70 mph or faster on most US highways, you would need to upgrade to a different tire with a higher speed rating, such as a radial tire rated for at least 75 mph (Speed Rating L) or 81 mph (Speed Rating M).

Spare Tire Won't Fit Carry-On 5x8 Bracket

I bought this spare tire for my Carry-On 5x8 trailer, but it won’t fit the factory mounting bracket. The tire tread hits the trailer frame, so the bolts cannot line up properly. It looks like the bracket was welded too close to the frame instead of further down the tongue.
