Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this stuff Lasts longer than pine bedding. The only problem I had was my horse is an easy keeper. If I dont wet them to make them expand she"ll eat them. Makes sense its corn but wetting them resolves this problem. But really kreps stall cleaner & easier to clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saves money and easy cleaning I have been using cob bedding for over a month now. Although it is more expensive than wood pellets it is worth it. I was adding a bag of wood pellets every 3-4 days. A bag of cob lasts me a week or more. It has a odd smell but it isn’t bad at all. The bedding also expands to a lot more than a bag of wood pellets. It also clumps like cat litter and extremely easy to clean with little to no waste of good bedding. I’m definitely hooked and won’t use anything else from now on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Product! Have used shavings and other bedding products for my horse. This product is by far the best I have ever used. It makes cleaning so much easier, reduces smell and lasts much longer than shavings or pine pelleted bedding. Far less waste. Clumps like kitty litter so no loss of product. I highly recommend this product. Costs more than pine shaving but in the end you loss far less when cleaning so more economical. Glad I discovered this. Only ever seen at Tractor Supply.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Use and Last Longer I used this for 18 months when my horse was on stall rest after an injury. When I first set up his stall I topped it with shavings to make sure he didn't eat it. Only had to top it once and just added a bag once a week. Never tried to eat it and was really easy to clean. Saved a lot of $$$ on bedding. Did notice a large price increase at TSC, so now I shop around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It was exactly what I needed I changed over one stall in my barn to this product because we thought the horse was having a reaction to shavings. This horse usually has a very wet stall and scatters manure in all directions. The corn cob bedding absorbs the urine and it scoops out easily. The manure you can just skim out with the fork. His stall is much drier. There is much less bedding in the compost pile. It is dustier than shavings, but not as dusty as saw dust.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Corn Cob Premium Horse Bedding It works great under the rabbits' cages. My granddaughter was allergic to pine so this product was a great option for soaking up the rabbits' waste. This product cuts down on the smell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very absorbent Purchased for my gelding in a 12 by 12 stall. He is a pig. He churns his piles into the clean bedding. He wets the middle until it is soaked. His stall is carefully cleaned daily. This is the first product that can take it and have it dry on top by morning. I just put 20 pounds in the middle. I cover the pellets with the damp saw dust that we get in bulk. Now there is so much less having to be removed. I still use sweet pez for odor control.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great as cat litter! My local TSC was out of the Pro-Pell wood pellets, so I gave this a shot hoping and praying my little Stinker would use it and not the floor. He seems to like it, and I don't have to change it as often. I have multiple cats, so I use a large plastic strainer to remove the dust created by their use and replace the pellets in their litter box daily. Even fussy Stinker has used this past his usual 3-4 day period. I am very happy with this product, though I wish it were not so expensive. The wood pellets are less than 1/2 the cost of this stuff, but Stinker likes it so it is a great alternative to the wood pellets I was using.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bedding! I use this bedding in combination with the pelleted pine bedding because the mixture makes cleaning the stall a breeze. The urine soaks in one spot and is extremely easy to remove. The manure is easy to remove as well without wasting barely any bedding. My only problem is how dusty it is. It doesn't bother me but if you have asthma or something along those lines I wouldn't recommend it. Personally, I'm happy with the corn bedding. I wish they had it in stock more often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product We have a miniature horse who needs to have good bedding to absorb urine and keep a nice smelling stall. This works better than the pellet bedding which gets very dusty after a day or two! Really happy to have tried it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst bedding I have ever used Four bags was not enough to cover 1/2 of a 12x12 stall even after fully expanding. It was extremely expensive, and I ended up having to throw it out after a week because it was extremely dusty. Every time a horse moved in their stall, it created a cloud of dust. The only redeeming feature was that it was extremely absorbent and quick to clean. I have never wasted so much money on a bedding.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Actually clumps like cat litter in horse stalls! Works great absorbing urine in my horse stalls but my guys LOVE to eat it also. Though this is almost twice what the pelleted pine bedding costs I feel better knowing they aren't ingesting wood. The bedding delivered here is almost always damp sometimes even wet. I mix that with the pelleted bedding and the pellets absorb moisture from the bedding that's delivered. Works very well. The Tractor Supply that is in my area quit carrying it so the manager was nice enough to order it for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money! My horse was recently on stall rest overnight because of white line, I went through 10 bags of shavings in two weeks along with two bags of pelleted bedding, trying to keep his feet as dry as possible, along with hoof drying products. I bought this bedding hoping it would last longer, I put five bags in his stall, which lasted the two more weeks he was in. I was thinking he was going to need another month in, but this bedding helped keep his hooves clean, so he got out sooner then I was expecting. Stall was a breeze to clean, no shuffling flakes around trying to save as much as you can. My horse did eat some at first so I took him out and sprayed it down. Barn owner ended up pulling out the rest of the bedding in the stall to use in another stall

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kitty Litter Good cheap cat litter. I do rescue so I have 30+ cats and multiple boxes. Goes about 9 days before it starts to smell.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst product I ever bought First the horses tried to eat the pellets that did not break down. Turn to a fine dust that stayed in th water buckets and in their coats. Couldn't pick cause I couldn't find droppings completed covered them. Might be great for cats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Cob Horse Bedding Alternative use I have 10 cats (sort of a home grown rescue op) and go through A LOT of cat litter. Best Cob works outstandingly well for this purpose; it's very absorbent, it saves me quite a bit of money and is much easier on the environment, since it breaks down much more quickly than cat litter. I end up using much less weight-wise than regular or clumping cat litter. Oh, and Best Cob clumps, too. The only complaint that I have is that my TSC in Murphy, NC has difficulty keeping it in stock.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tasty Idea I was really excited when I read the bag. I have used Equine Fresh for years and was not happy with how dusty it got. When I saw this bedding product, I wanted to believe that it would be all that it said on the bag. Easy to handle, easy to clean, but my horse loves to eat it. Until they come up with a way to make it not tasty, I won't waste my money on it just to watch it be eaten.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bedding! I use this for my horses and love the way the wet spots clump.  This saves urine from running under my stall mats into the dirt floor of my barn.  The bags are easy to handle and store.   When adding new bedding I always spritz it with water to help the pellets break down quickly and control dust.  My stalls have never been easier to clean.  This product has much better absorption rate than shavings or sawdust.  When composted it takes less time to break down and the end result is not as acidic as composted shavings.  No, it's not as pretty as fluffy shavings but I use much less and waste less.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great for cat liter I use this in place of traditional cat liter and it works great. You barely have to change it and it doesn't smell. It is kind of hard to scoop like traditional liter but I would recommend it to anyone/.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for people allergic to wood chips I use this as a substitute for wood chip bedding in my brooder and my chicken coop. Great product! Only complaint is it is very dusty...which would explain why my chickens love to dust bathe in it.

What is the size of the grind? Is it similar to the size used for small animals and birds?

The manufacturer lists the grit size as "crumbles." It is similar to cob filler but the grind is not as fine as corn cob filler.

Is it safe for pig pens? I'm planning on putting it on the ground to help with the mud.

Asked by: Nightfire
Best Cob Premium Horse Bedding is an excellent product for bedding horses as well as other animals and can be used as an absorbent in other applications. This product would be safe to use as a soil stabilizer in muddy conditions where pigs may come in contact with it or as bedding in pig pens. It is an all-natural product made completely from ground corn cobs.
