Azithromycin should not be administered to patients with a history of sensitivity to macrolides, have liver disease, or are taking cisapride.
Patients taking antacids could experienced reduced absorption rates.
Hepatic enzyme inhibitors could alter metabolization of this medication.
Sucralfate could decrease the effects of this drug, and cyclosporine could increase blood levels.
Vomiting may be experienced at higher doses, but is not as frequently reported as it is with erythromycin.
Overdose presents as abdominal cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea.
