Athlon Optics 8x 42mm Midas G2 UHD Binoculars

You have to compare apples to apples when it comes to optics; in this price range, these Midas G2 binos are the clearest I've seen. Period. Are they as clear as Swarovski or Leica? No, they're not. But, they're much more affordable and worked EXTREMELY well on our recent trip to Alaska. I'm impressed, to say the least.

I’ve been using these 8x42 binoculars for birding, and they work really well. The image is clear and bright, even in lower light like early morning. The 8x magnification is a good balance. It’s easy to keep birds in view without too much shake. They feel solid in hand and are comfortable to use for longer periods. The focus wheel is smooth and makes it easy to quickly adjust when birds are moving.

These binos offer fantastic optics at a reasonable price. I've been using them for urban birding, and the image is very clear. I look forward to taking them with me on future travels

When I first put these binoculars up to my eyes, the image was shockingly crisp and clear. At home during the winter I usually use a pair of Steiners with a 60mm objective. They’re very good glass, so I wasn’t expecting to be this impressed. But when I looked through these Athlons—especially considering I already own several Athlon rifle scopes—the clarity really stood out. The image is incredibly sharp and bright. As much as it pains me to admit it, the view is even clearer than my Swarovski Z3 scope. I realize that’s not a perfectly fair comparison since one is binocular and the other is a rifle scope, but that’s honestly the level of clarity we’re talking about. Needless to say, I can’t wait to put these to work during deer season.
