Atenolol Tablet is a beta-blocker for cats and dogs that can help treat a variety of cardiac conditions. It's primarily used for hypertension, but can also be used for alleviating chest pains, regulating tachycardia, lowering blood pressure and more. Atenolol is available in either 25 mg tablets or 50 mg tablets, and is sold by the tablet.How it Works
Atenolol affects the impulses of certain nerves.
Special Precautions
Do not use in:
- Lactating or pregnant animals, unless your veterinarian determines that the benefits outweigh the risks
- Cats with left-sided heart failure because of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM)
- Pets with bronchospastic lung disease
- Pets with low heart rates
- Pets with heart block greater than first degree
- Pets with heart failure
- Hypersensitive pets (to any drug in this class)
- Gastrointestinal ulcers
- Heart conditions
- Asthma
- Diabetes
- Significant kidney disease

Side Effects
The most frequently reported adverse reactions include:
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Low blood pressure
- Slow heartbeat
Rarely, allergic reactions may occur. The signs of an allergic reaction include swelling, difficulty breathing, or rash. If these or any other symptoms occur, immediately contact your veterinarian.

Store in a dry and cool environment.

Atenolol is typically used in conjunction with other anti-arrhythmic cardiac medications.
