Ariat comes through again! I wanted a warm, soft, substantial but not heavy flannel in a plaid pattern. Got this one, and it surpasses all my expectations. Mine is an attractive oyster/latte/navy blue plaid and a Sm fits 5’4” 135 lb me perfectly. Very pleased!

This flannel is perfect! Great fabric: sturdy, soft, and comfortable with a touch of stretch. The pattern is cut to flatter my female shape yet tough enough to handle a full day of real work. It allows you to move without binding. The shoulders let you move. I love the glasses cloth sewn into the bottom hem - I’ve never seen another brand of shirt made this way - it’s so handy!

I first purchased this shirt in a size larger than my usual, expecting it would shrink a lot. When I received it, I saw that it was WAY too large. I re-ordered in my usual size, an XL. On first try-on, I saw that the cut was generous, more so than other flannels I have tried. I have now washed it in warm water and dried it on the cotton/towels setting of my dryer, and I've very happy with the fit. My height is 5' and 2.5". The original back length was 28.75", and it shrank to 28 inches even. The sleeve length was 24" and those shrank to 23.25". So, .75 inch shrinkage in length. The front armpit-to-armpit width changed from 24.5" to 24.25" So, the cut is generous to begin with and shrinkage is no more than should be expected from a mostly-cotton shirt. I would suggest, don't size up unless you're between your usual size and the next bigger one. The material is mid-weight, and so far I see no pilling. The shirt came out of the dryer without needing ironing. (It helps to not overload the dryer and to remove items right away.) There are bust darts and a subtle curve to the side seams, so there's a slight shaping, which I was looking for. The exposed seams are flat-felled. The construction details look excellent. I am VERY happy with this shirt.
